OUR STORY
In the vibrant multicultural landscape of Canada, a group of passionate alumni from the Institute of Business Administration, Punjab University, found themselves bound by a common vision: to create a platform that would serve as a hub for networking, professional development, and community engagement. Thus, the IBA PU Alumni in Canada was born.
Recognizing the importance of formalizing their efforts, the alumni association took the initiative to register as a non-profit organization under the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010, ensuring transparency, accountability, and legal compliance in all their endeavors. With meticulous attention to detail, they completed the necessary paperwork and formalities, laying the foundation for a robust and sustainable organization.
Driven by their shared alma mater and fueled by their passion for excellence, the IBA PU Alumni Association in Canada continues to thrive, embodying the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and service. With each passing day, they honor their roots, forge new paths, and leave an indelible mark on the Canadian business landscape.
Board of Directors
Saqib is a finance professional with over 30 years of experience. He is currently a Board Director at the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority and a Partner at BCM Partners LLP. He has also chaired the CEO Advisory Group at TEC Canada and served as a Board Director at the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network.
Saqib holds a Chartered Director designation from McMaster University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), he also holds CPA Australia designation. He is Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and works with BDC as external consultant. Saqib is dedicated to mentoring young entrepreneurs through Futurpreneur Canada and has served as board chair of Compassion Society of Halton.
Shahid Ali has had a diverse career spanning multiple industries. He started at the Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan, then moved to Pakistan Steel, PIA’s Duty-Free Shops, and Mercury Corporation with roles in Moscow and Hong Kong. He has also worked at Highnoon Laboratories and TAQ Logistics and DANZAS (Canada) in senior roles. In 2005, he founded Addwisers Inc., specializing in accounting and tax services. Shahid is also actively involved in philanthropic efforts through Milton halal food bank and community services with Ontario seniors’ forums.
Mateen Butt is a seasoned finance professional with over three decades of expertise in financial management. Currently, working at Bossard Ontario Inc. His previous roles include positions at Manta Test Systems Ltd. and BCS Global Networks Limited, where he was responsible for financial reporting. Mateen’s career began in Pakistan with the National Highway Authority and the Printing Corporation of Pakistan, where he excelled in overseeing finance, budgeting, and auditing operations. Mateen is involved in several philanthropic activities.
Fazal, migrated to Canada immediately after graduation. He obtained designations and fellowships from the Credit Institute of Canada and the Canadian Securities Institute, including the Financial Management Advisor (FMA) designation. Fazal worked in Credit Risk Management at CIBC. He then joined IBM Canada’s Finance division and finally started his real estate business. Azeem has a strong history of volunteering, including helping new immigrants settle in Canada and participating in the CIBC Run for the Cure. He has also been actively involved in fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis for several years.
Rashed Butt began his career at MCB Pakistan, where he worked until his last assignment as Vice President & Principal of the Staff College in Karachi. He then immigrated to Canada and joined CIBC, followed by roles in other financial services organizations. He pursued further education in Forensic Accounting at Seneca College, earning the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation. Rashed then worked in the USA as an SAP Financial Consultant (FICO). He is currently in real estate business. He is also an active volunteer with the Milton Halal Food Bank, contributing to his community with dedication and passion.
Masroor Masood began his professional journey with WWF Fund for Nature and Askari Commercial Bank before immigrating to Canada. He has CPA designation, enhancing his expertise in accounting and finance. Masroor has since worked for renowned companies such as Apple Inc., Redpath Sugar, and Lactalis Canada, showcasing his versatility and capability in various industries in senior roles including CFO. Masroor has actively contributed to his community by volunteering for fundraising campaigns for the Credit Valley Hospital.

Shahid Ali has demonstrated exceptional leadership and administrative skills throughout his diverse career across multiple industries. Filza Raza, an accomplished graduate from IBA’s Class of 1995-97, has significant experience in credit evaluation and risk management. She spent three years as a Credit Evaluation Analyst at Grays Leasing Limited and five years at MCB Bank Ltd in similar roles. In 2009, she moved to Canada and has since been running her own firm, MST Consulting Inc. Filza is actively engaged in alumni activities, supporting initiatives to strengthen the alumni community, and is dedicated to philanthropic efforts, demonstrating her commitment to positive societal impact.
Tahir Hussain excels in supervisory roles, leadership, and team development. His career includes managerial and sales positions at The Source, Walmart Canada, United Marine Agencies, Hamburg Süd, Maersk Line, and Raaziq International. In addition to MBA, he also holds MSc in Mathematics from the University of the Punjab, along with a CITT-Certified Logistics Professional designation. Active in the Lions Club International since 1996 and dedicated to community service. He is good in people development, employee engagement, and logistics management.
Assad Hanif is a seasoned Professional with nearly 25 years of expertise in corporate accounting, tax strategy, and financial management. He holds an Executive MBA in Finance, a Master’s in Economics, and a Law degree, along with CPA and ACCA designations. As the founder of Sufi Canada CPA Professional, Assad specializes in providing tailored accounting, tax planning, and consulting services to empower businesses. His extensive career spans leadership roles in banking, technology, and pharmaceuticals, showcasing his strategic insight and commitment to excellence.
Idrees Butt has a rich background in finance and credit management, having served as a Credit Specialist at BlackBerry and a Credit Risk Manager at Bankers Equity Limited in Pakistan. In these roles, he managed credit requirements, conducted comprehensive credit analysis, and oversaw strategic financial management. Transitioning to real estate, he has worked as a licensed broker with firms like Royal LePage Downsview Realty, Homelife G1 Realty Inc., and Cityscape Real Estate Ltd., earning multiple sales awards. He holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance, a Business Accounting Diploma from Sheridan College, a Real Estate Licence from OREA College, and is a Certified Credit Professional. Idrees excels in customer relationship management, credit risk oversight, and business development.
Alumni Nexus Squad
Dr. Kamran Bashir is a distinguished academic and educational consultant with a multifaceted career spanning over two decades. Currently serving as a Scholar-in-Residence at Simon Fraser University since July 2022, Dr. Bashir brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Greater Vancouver community in British Columbia, Canada. He also volunteers as a member of the Advisory Board at Castle Carrington Publishing in Victoria, BC, a publishing house that deals with the issues of marginalized groups.
Usman Wajid is an experienced finance professional with over 13 years in corporate and institutional investments, most recently serving at UBL Fund Manager. He previously held key roles at Standard Chartered Bank and Bank Alfalah Limited, specializing in deposit mobilization and wealth management. Usman Wajid holds IFMP Certified Mutual Funds Distributor. He has been recognized for his exemplary academic behavior and skills in financial analysis and teamwork. Additionally, Usman has volunteered and helped new immigrants in settlements.
Habib Ullah is a Senior Analyst in Supply Chain Data & Analytics at Canada Goose, specializing in performance optimization through machine learning and advanced analytics. He has extensive experience managing large inventories and improving supply chain processes at SCI Group Inc. and Prime Line Engineering Works. Habib holds a Master of Management Analytics from Queen’s University . He is certified as an APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional and skilled in various analytical tools and techniques.
Anees Ashraf has experience in Banking & financial reporting. Skilled in streamlining financial operations, ensuring compliance, and leveraging advanced tools like Oracle PeopleSoft for process optimization.
Currently working at Canadian Tire Financial Services . He previously worked with FIRST INT’L Investment Bank & IGI Investment Bank.
Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad is a senior academic and administrator with 29 years of experience.
He holds a PhD and M.S. from the University of Windsor and an M.B.A. (2014–2016) from IBA, University of the Punjab.
He has published over 230 research papers and served as Dean, Principal, and Vice Chancellor at various universities.
